Might have found a path again

I used to walk a lot. Really liked it, too. I was fortunate to live and work within a half mile, so it seemed to be a natural thing to do every day.

When I moved across Colorado to the way too-crowded Front Range and Denver, I didn’t have the same chance. So you could say I kind of lost my way on the path of my life. That applied to where I was trying to go professionally and personally as well.

Fast forward about three years to today and it feels like I may have found a path again. I’m still not walking as much as I did before the big move, but Continue reading “Might have found a path again”

A little different thinking can be a good thing

Growth and change are two universal constants, no matter where you live, what you do or aspire to be in your life.

At least that’s what I’ve come to believe over the years, as my life has ebbed and flowed through good times and bad times. When it comes to one personal constant – this, putting words together to form coherent thoughts – I like to think I’ve grown and changed, too. Hopefully for the better.

Time to mow the lawn…Yeah!

Lawn MowerIf I’m back to mowing the lawn, it must be spring.

And unlike many people, I don’t look at the regular practice of getting the mower out and walking over every square inch of grass as work.  I look at it as exercise, a chance to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and (relatively) fresh air.

I’ve liked yard work since I was a teenager, when I worked my way through college by  mowing parks each summer. Yeah, I drove one of those riding mowers, Continue reading “Time to mow the lawn…Yeah!”

Conquering this writing challenge

Blogging 1It’s not like I haven’t been writing since my last post (in August, really that long???). Since I resumed my journalistic career, the stories have flowed. But since they’re all political or local stories, I didn’t think they would make good blog material. I know others probably disagree and love to argue politics. As an old-school journalist, though, I hope my stories don’t tend one way or another. I’ve prided myself on others telling me they thought my stories were fair and balanced.

So conquering this blogging challenge has included taking a few steps back, catching my breath and now Continue reading “Conquering this writing challenge”

Maybe I beat the system, or the system is wrong

Nightmare 1At times over the last few years, it has seemed I’ve been stuck in place, even living a personal nightmare of sorts.

But I’ve finally managed to dig myself out and get headed in what I hope will be a positive professional direction once again. Some, maybe even a lot of, people may not think it’s a bright move to be a reporter or journalist these days, but it’s still what I aspire to be after all my years at a couple of newspapers.

I will be working for Continue reading “Maybe I beat the system, or the system is wrong”
